Descriptions:
This is one place where the food is always memorable. The little frame house on the bluff
was built in 1916 and refurbished by the three "Marx Brothers"--Jack Amon, Van
Hale, and Ken Brown. Chef Jack Amon's melitzanosalata appetizer is an Anchorage
favorite--it's an eggplant spread served with Greek olives and pita bread. Or try the
seafood mousse, a light pt of smoked sturgeon, smoked salmon, and Maine lobster. The
terrific made-at-your-table Caesar salad is a light meal in itself. Baked halibut with a
macadamia crust served with coconut curry and mango chutney is a favorite entre. For
dessert try the warm wild-berry crisp with Alaskan birch syrup and butter pecan ice cream.
The wine list is extensive. AE, DC, MC, V. Reservations essential. Closed Sun. and
Sept.-May. No lunch. |
