Larger and airier than its Newton branch, the South End Appetito offers similar pastas,
soups and salads. The restaurant also serves pizzas and a Sunday brunch buffet that
includes a cocktail, Belgian waffles, fruit salads, roasted meats, and eggs to order.
Sienese colors and hand-painted murals of people eating and imbibing set off a conditioned
reflex for garlic-olive hunger, which this kitchen satisfies with gourmet pizzas, a very
good plate of grilled vegetables, and an even better version of spinach gnocchi. It is
much less formal than its neighbor Icarus, so you can use it simply for a pizza stop, a
late dessert, or an inexpensive theater restaurant, as it is just enough out of the
theater district to make finding parking easier. Brunch is served on Sunday. AE, D, DC,
